Peace Day

My International Peace Day project was initially formed by six different icons that I believed best symbolizes peace: a lotus flower, an elephant, koi fish, the peony flower, a crane, and finally a lyre, which were designed by using the Gestalt principles. To extend my project further, I chose to use my koi fish as the central meaning of peace for its symbolization of balance, harmony, and quiet strength.

As my process for designing both the conceptual poster and mural progressed, I worked on simplifying my illustrative details while keeping contrast of the colors and the composition of the pieces in mind. This helped both pieces focus on the main icon while also adding a call to action for the audience that view them.

My International Peace Day pieces are carefully illustrated and designed to not only become display pieces to admire, but to promote and advocate for clean water to be utilized, for world peace starts with clean water.
